Job Title: Adolescent Parenting Program (APP) Coordinator

Job Statement: The Anson County Partnership for Children (ACPC) seeks a reliable and compassionate professional to
perform intensive case management services in various settings, from pregnancy to parenting teens, maintaining a 15-20
participant caseload. The Parents as Teachers Adolescent Parenting Program Coordinator, under the direction of the
Executive Director, will implement home-based visiting services for families with children birth to 5 years through the
Parent as Teachers Program, explicitly focusing on parents ages 14-19 enrolled in the Adolescent Parenting Program. The
program's two main goals are to increase self-sufficiency outcomes for program participants and to improve
developmental outcomes for the children of program participants. Impeccable organizational skills, immense flexibility,
and strong collaboration with community partners are essential for success.


Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinate and implement developmentally appropriate activities for primarily teen and young adult parents
with children prenatal-age 5 using the Parents as Teachers Foundational™ Curriculum.
• Use the Ages and Stages Questionnaire to assess children’s needs and make referrals for additional screenings as
needed.
• Assess unique family needs and refer to appropriate community resources as needed, and serve as an advocate
for parents in accessing these resources. This may include advocating on behalf of the parent in their
educational environment, assisting them with obtaining medical care, child care and/or transportation, etc.
• Facilitate evidence-based reproductive health program to model fidelity.
• Recruit new families/parents to participate in the PAT program.
• Provide presentations on the Parents as Teachers Program for community events and organizations (i.e., high
school parenting support groups, school guidance counselors, hospital staff, etc.).
• Plan/coordinate support groups/workshops for young families participating in the Parents as Teachers Program.
• Specific grant funding dictates a number of workshops/educational sessions that must be provided.
• Prepare reports on EZTIPPI & PAT visits, noting child development and interaction with parents. Reports are
recorded using the Visit Tracker Software.
• Set and maintain goals for the Parents as Teachers Program.
• Attend additional trainings on an as-needed basis to further knowledge of issues related to parents ages 14-19.
Trainings may also include information on child development, developmentally appropriate practice, and other
topics related to young children.

Other Duties
• Should be friendly, outgoing, creative, flexible, have initiative and willingness to work as a team member, and
can work individually.
• Individual must be able to perform in a fast-paced, family-oriented environment while handling multiple tasks

• Assist with the annual Barn Blast fundraiser and other community events as directed.
• Any other projects, tasks, or assignments considered necessary for the agency's well-being as assigned by the
Executive Director.


Qualifications:

Specific Requirements:
1) Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work, Public
Health, or related field from a college or university preferred; and two (2) years related experience and/or training in
child care, social work environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2) Considerable knowledge of, and the ability to, apply the principles and practices of public health; considerable
knowledge of maternal and postpartum issues; knowledge base in child development; current social and economic
problems relating to healthcare; strong knowledge of the available community resources and organizations; the ability to
work collaboratively with community partners.
3) Ability to build comfortable working relationships with funded programs, community members, volunteers, and other
professionals.
4) Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to write reports and proposals and to effectively present
information to management officials, public or community groups, and/or directors.
5) Computer skills that include word processing, spreadsheet, and data collection.
Certifications, Licenses: Valid driver’s license.
